Finance Manager


Based at:    Dance City, Newcastle upon Tyne

 

Responsible to:     Committee Lead  

 

Responsible for:    Any other Finance staff as appointed

 

Essential requirements:    Finance Related Degree or Post Graduate Qualification or

    3 years proven experience of developing, maintaining and delivering in finance role

    

Key relationships (internal):    Committee Lead, all Managers of distinct areas of delivery

 

Key relationships (external):    Suppliers, contractors, users

 

Purpose:    To monitor and advise on all financial transactions

 

    To keep up to date records of all financial transactions

 

    To regularly reconcile all cash

 

    To report to the organising committee and Board as requested

 

    To keep accurate VAT records and administer any VAT claims

    

    Promote and advocate for Northern Pride locally, regionally, nationally and internationally

Notice period:    1 months (by negotiation)


Key Responsibilities

 

Finance Lead

  • To support the strategic vision and business strategy plan for Northern Pride, keeping clear and accurate financial records.

  • To produce finance reports as requested

  • To produce budgets for funding bids

  • To advise on VAT

  • To keep clear and accurate VAT records

  • To reclaim Gift Aid and maximize Gift Aid opportunities

  • Deal with regulatory bodies such as Charities Commission, HMRC & Companies house in relation to financial returns

  • Deal with all invoicing remittance & purchase orders

  • Use online finance hubs such as Paypal, On-line shop & internet banking

  • Take full responsibility for the organization’s cash management policies

  • Aid in coordinating bucket collections at satellite events

  • Plan and implement cash handling procedures

  • Lead and develop finance sub committee’s

  • Set up supplier set up forms

  • Present annual reports at the AGM to stakeholders

 

Staff Support

  • Advise any staff of Board on financial matters.

 

Legal

  • To comply with all Northern Pride’s policies.

 

Training

  • Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.

 

Other Duties

  • To carry out such other functions or projects as are allocated to the postholder from time to time.

 

Person Specification

 

Essential

 
  • Highly motivated with a desire to succeed

  • Minimum of 3 years experience of working in the finance sector

  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector

  • Level XX in finance

  • At least 3 years working in financial systems

  • A thorough understanding of creating, delivering and examining financial documents

  • A thorough understanding of VAT

  • Proven ability to adapt to change

  • Ability to lead and motivate other team members

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proven excellent organisational ability

  • A proven self-starter, able to take the initiative and make decisions

  • Ability to prioritise workload/ good time management

  • A deep understanding of working in partnership

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Punctuality

Desirable

 
  • Degree or higher in finance subject

  • An understanding of Gift Aid
