Ross Hogarth
Entertainment Director

How did you get involved with Northern Pride and why?
I got involved with Northern Pride after seeing vacant positions advertised on the website. I already knew people on the committee and knew they enjoyed their roles and got a lot out of it so decided to apply. I have been involved in other LGBT voluntary groups for a few years now, most notably Pride Radio and felt Northern Pride was the next step to help make a difference for LGBT people in the north east area.

What is your role?
I have taken on the role of Entertainment Director.

If money was no object who would be your ultimate Pride headliner?
If money was no object there would only be one act I would book. Most people who know me personally won't be at all surprised at who it is either. The one act I would have grace the stage at Newcastle Pride would without doubt be Steps. I have been a huge fan of the group right from when they formed and followed them religiously. Back in their hey day I saw them live on numerous occasions and made a point of knowing all the dance routines by heart. Some people may think this is quite sad but that doesn't bother me. Over the past year it has been very exciting seeing them get back together and tour again. I went to see them at both Newcastle dates last year! So hopefully in the future with all your kind donations we will be able to book them! Keep donating people!

What was the first record you ever bought?
The first record I ever bought is SO gay. It was Freddie Mercury and Moserat Cabbale - Barcelona! It was the theme tune to the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 and I absolutely loved it. My musical taste has always been quite cheesy!

What skills and qualities do you bring to the Northern Pride committee?
I bring a number of skills to the Northern Pride committee. As I have said I have been involved with Pride Radio since it started almost 3 years ago so I have experience of working with an LGBT voluntary organisation. I have also had some experience of events management in my paid employment. I have also been a DJ and host/compere for many large events in the past. Hopefully my past skills and experience will be useful to Northern Pride and help to make this years main event even better.

What are your hopes for this years Northern Pride?
I would hope that this years pride is bigger, better and brighter than ever. I hope the sun shines and we see people from all walks of life joining together to celebrate LGBT life!
